There are several clamping methods for the X-Carve Pro. The 4x4 X-Carve Pro comes with the Hold Down Clamps. You can upgrade the 4x2 to include the T-Track Wasteboard. You can also order the wooden clamps separately or by buying the Accessories Kit:
X Carve Pro T-Slot Waste Board
General Usage: While the photos may only show 1 or 2 clamps, generally 4 or more clamps are recommended. Ensure that the material is evenly clamped all around. There should not be a gap between the wasteboard and the material. You can also find additional clamping options in the Easel Projects section:

You'll want to make sure your dust shoe is properly raised and adjust your Safety Height and Origin Safety Height to account for the clamps:

Aluminum Clamps:
Usage:
1. Insert the T-track bolt through the nut, clamp, washer, and screw handle.
2. Slide the clamp into the T-Track channel and screw down the handle to tighten the clamp onto the material.
3. Raise the dust shoe so that the bristles are positioned high enough to clear the clamps.
Wooden Clamps:
Usage:
1. Insert the carriage bolt so that the head of the bolt is on the bottom of your clamp. Set the clamp on your workpiece and adjust the carriage bolt until the clamp is level with the material.
2. Select the M5 mounting screw and install it through the slit in the clamp with a flat washer between the screw and the clamp.
3. Firmly tighten the clamp down.
4. For material thicker than 3/4", a longer carriage bolt and M5 mounting screw is needed. You can find them at your local hardware store.
